Most of us don’t buy just the amount of meat we want to cook each time. Almost always, we buy extra so we can store it for the next time we cook meat. How many of you buy ground meat, make burgers, and store them in the freezer? Or any other kind of meat? However, making a mistake when storing meat in the freezer can have negative consequences.

So, let’s see how to store it to avoid these consequences:

The first and most important thing to keep in mind when freezing meat is that it should be stored in a way that minimizes its exposure to air and moisture in the freezer.

LARGE CUTS OF MEAT: Wrap them in plastic wrap, then place them in a food bag.

BURGERS: Once you’ve prepared the burgers, wrap them individually in plastic wrap and place them in a food bag. Alternatively, you can wrap them individually in aluminum foil.

GROUND MEAT: Divide the ground meat into portions for about four people. Wrap each portion in plastic wrap, pressing it flat. Then wrap it in aluminum foil and place it in the freezer.

STEAKS / CHOPS: Without washing them, wrap each bone in aluminum foil so it doesn’t tear the plastic wrap or bag used to store the meat, which could cause it to spoil. Then wrap them individually in plastic wrap or place them in food bags.

PORTIONS: Use a knife to remove membranes, sinew, and any excess visible fat from the portions. Wrap each one in plastic wrap, then in aluminum foil, and store them in the freezer. That way, you can thaw exactly as many portions as you need.
