Although there are not many foods that can be described as superfoods, beef liver is one of them. Unfortunately, liver is not very popular and could be considered an underrated cut of beef. However, it is rich in protein, vitamins and minerals, and low in calories.

Let’s take a look at what beef liver has to offer:

High-quality protein: more than a quarter of beef liver consists of protein. Protein is essential for building and repairing cells, and for converting food into energy. It also boosts the metabolic rate, helping with weight loss, and supports muscle growth.

Vitamin B12: plays an important role in the production of red blood cells and DNA. It is especially important for the normal functioning of the nervous system.

Vitamin A: has antioxidant properties and is essential for the health of the eyes, bones, skin and hair. It also helps organs such as the heart and kidneys function properly.

Iron: is essential for growth and oxygenation of the body. The iron in beef liver is absorbed much more easily by the body than iron from other foods.

Copper: plays a key role in activating a number of enzymes, which in turn help regulate energy production, iron metabolism and brain function.

Folic acid (B9): is essential for cell growth.

Riboflavin (B2): is important for the proper functioning of cells and for converting food into energy.

Choline: is important for brain development and normal liver function.

Include beef liver in your diet! It’s good for you!
