⚠️ What to expect during the first uses
Salt slabs need gentle, gradual heating/cooling, especially at first.
This is normal:
• fissures/cracks may appear during the first few uses
• the original pink color may become more white in places
With use/washing, you may notice that it regains some of its original color. This is expected and is not necessarily a sign of a problem.
🔥 How to grill properly on a salt slab
General rule
• Heat and cool gradually.
• Cook WITHOUT adding salt (the slab adds its own saltiness).
• You can sprinkle your preferred spices on top and grill as usual.
How to make your food less salty
Brush the slab (and optionally the food) with a little olive oil to create a natural “film” and reduce salt transfer.
♨️ Preheating
1) Gas Stove
1️⃣ Place the slab on the burner.
2️⃣ Set to low heat and leave for 15 minutes.
3️⃣ If you see moisture around the edges, that’s normal – it will evaporate as it heats up.
✅ The slower, the better.
2) Electric Stove
1️⃣ Use a pastry ring / wok stand / metal stand to raise the slab slightly.
2️⃣ Set to low for 10 minutes.
3️⃣ Then continue at the desired temperature.
✅ Always heat gradually – it’s a mineral slab.
3) BBQ (Gas / Charcoal / Electric)
1️⃣ Place the slab on the grill.
2️⃣ Set the temperature to level 1 for 10 minutes.
3️⃣ Turn it up to level 3 to let it adjust gradually.
🧽 Cleaning & Care
1️⃣ Allow the slab to cool completely.
2️⃣ Rinse with lukewarm water and a sponge.
3️⃣ Scrub harder where residue has stuck/crystallized (e.g. fat).
4️⃣ Dry evenly with a soft cloth or paper towel.
5️⃣ Allow to air-dry naturally and store in a dry place.
❗ Caution
• DO NOT soak the slab
• DO NOT use detergent/chemical cleaners
❓ How “salty” will the food turn out?
The amount of salt that “transfers” depends on:
• the food's juices
• the fat
• how hot the slab is
• how long the food stays on it
How do I control it?
• For a milder result: olive oil on the slab (and optionally on the food) before cooking.
