🐑🍖 Greek Hogget Leg

Greek Hogget Leg • Rich & Traditional • Oven & Spit Ready • Ready-to-Cook

The Greek Hogget Leg is the choice for those who want a richer flavor than classic milk-fed lamb. Hogget has an intense, deep meaty aftertaste and roasts beautifully — especially when prepared with a good marinade and slow-roasted in the oven or a casserole dish. As a cut, the leg combines beautiful meat with just the right amount of fat, so it turns out tender, juicy and ideal for carving at the table.

It's the cut that’s perfect for Easter, Sundays, holidays and gatherings that call for traditional flavor.

📖 Product Description

• Cut: Hogget leg (hind leg)
• Origin: Greece
• Ideal for: oven, casserole dish, (and spit-roasting where suitable)
• Rich flavor, traditional character, ideal for slow roasting
• Packaged with traceability & quality certification

💎 Why choose it

🐑 Hogget – more intense and “meaty” than milk-fed lamb
🔥 Turns out tender when slow-roasted properly
🍋 Pairs perfectly with lemon, oregano, garlic, rosemary
🥔 Perfect with roasted potatoes and gravy made from the pan juices
🍽️ Large cut for sharing, carving and serving

⚠️ Important

❗ The product is not ready to eat — it must be fully cooked before serving.

🔥 Cooking method (recommended – oven/casserole dish)

Slow roasting for tenderness

1️⃣ Preheat the oven to 160–170°C.
2️⃣ Make small slits and insert garlic (optional).
3️⃣ Season with salt and pepper and rub with olive oil, oregano, thyme/rosemary, and lemon.
4️⃣ Roast covered (with foil/parchment paper or in a casserole) for 2.5–3.5 hours (depending on weight).
5️⃣ Uncover and increase the temperature to 200–220°C for 15–25 minutes to brown nicely.
6️⃣ Let it “rest” for 10–15 minutes before carving.

✅ It’s ready when the meat comes away easily and the juices run clear.

💡 Chef’s Tip

• Hogget is perfect for marinating. If you have time, leave it in the refrigerator for 2–12 hours with lemon, garlic, oregano, and olive oil.
• For a more rounded flavor, add a little mustard to the roasting pan along with lemon.

🍽️ Pairings & Serving

• Roasted potatoes, pilaf, or hilopites
• Greek salad or green salad
• Tzatziki or yogurt-lemon sauce for balance

🌏 Flavor Profile
