Περιγραφή
The Pinot Noir from Papagiannakos Estate is one of Greece's first Pinot Noirs and perhaps one of our favorites. Juicy and fruity, it's almost impossible not to fall for it from the very first sip!
Thanasis Papagiannakos was one of the greatest visionaries of Nemea. He founded the family winery in ancient Nemea in 1876 and was among the first to embrace organic farming. After studying his 570 acres of vineyards, he observed that some plots provided ideal conditions for growing "difficult" international varieties such as Pinot Noir. The red grape variety from Burgundy was planted in the plain of Nemea and found a second, slightly warmer home there. From the very beginning to this day, Papagiannakos Estate Pinot Noir has had a devoted following, thanks to its typicity and incredible price. Careful winemaking accounts for 50% of its success, with just the right amount of oak so it doesn't overshadow the fruit. The wine ages for 6-8 months in oak barrels, followed by 12 months in the bottle.
It has a medium ruby color and intense aromas of strawberry, cherry, plum, sour cherry, vanilla, butterscotch, and cedar. On the palate, it is juicy and fruity, with medium body, velvety tannins, and balanced acidity. Strawberry jam, black cherry, and raspberry are complemented by notes of vanilla, tea, cinnamon, and tobacco.
Aromas: Strawberry jam, black cherry, raspberry, vanilla, tea, cinnamon, tobacco.
