Evangelos Gerovassiliou was the first to obtain Malagousia from Vasilis Logothetis, Professor of Ampelography and Viticulture at the University of Thessaloniki, who maintained an experimental vineyard, and make it into wine at the Porto Carras Estate in Halkidiki.
Later, in 1981, he planted it in his own vineyard in Epanomi.
He is therefore the man who rescued and popularized Malagousia, initially giving vines to the Wine Institute, and from there to Roxani Matsa and winemaker Thanasis Parparousis.
It is made entirely from the old Greek Malagousia variety.
After pre-fermentation maceration, it is fermented at 18-20 °C in stainless steel tanks, where it remains for several months on its lees, gaining body and varietal aromas. It is bright, pale yellow with greenish hues, and its aromas evoke ripe fruit (pear, mango, citron).
On the palate, it is characterized by richness and good balance, with flavors of lemon and citron peel. Enjoy it fresh, within the first 2-3 years of its life. Serve chilled at 8-10 °C.
Food pairings: Mediterranean cuisine, seafood, white meats with simple sauces, pasta with shellfish, and salads with seasonal greens.
