Περιγραφή
Velvety and robust at the same time, powerful and crisp, this is an incredibly cosmopolitan wine that will add style and maximize enjoyment with any fine meat dish. Red and black fruits, spices, herbs, and earthy notes are just some of the aromas and flavors that emerge from the very first sip!
This is Vaggelis Gerovassiliou. The result more than vindicated him. Avaton is a wine that will impress beginners and win over connoisseurs. A top-quality red wine made from three relatively unknown Greek varieties with a long history and even greater potential.
It is made from the indigenous Greek varieties Limnio, Mavroudi, and Mavrotragano. Limnio - mentioned by Aristotle as “Lemnian vine” - is the oldest Greek variety.
After maceration and completion of alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in special wooden Burgundy vats, the wine is aged for approximately 12 to 18 months in new French oak barrels. It has a bright, deep purple color and a complex bouquet of spices with ripe black fruits (blackberries), raisins, coffee, and cocoa.
On the palate, elegant tannins are supported by abundant fruit, creating power and balance. The finish is long, with the spices recurring. It has excellent aging potential (15-20 years) and is served at 16-18 °C.
Food pairings: red meats braised in a pot with spicy sauces, furred game.
